Welcome to this overview of how the WPI Undergraduate Student Life Fee for Fiscal Year 2026 has been distributed so far. (Fiscal Year 2026 is July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026 which is functionally the 2025-2026 academic year.)

This page was made based on feedback from clubs at the C25 Club Congress to improve transparency about how much money SGA has available and how it is allocated.

How much money do we have?

Every full-time undergraduate student at WPI pays a Student Life Fee on a semesterly basis. For FY26, the SLF is $476 paid in two increments of $238. However, we don’t take into account what semester the money is coming from when distributing it throughout the year since not all terms have equal spending needs. This is the expected breakdown of how much money SGA will have to distribute for FY26:

How much money is left?

SGA divides the SLF into 3 main pools: Mandatory Transfers, Club Budgets, and Funding Requests. Mandatory Transfers were voted on in D25 and Budgets were processed in S25. At this point in FY26 these are fixed amounts. Funding Requests are approved throughout the year so the value in this table represents how much has currently been approved to be spent. Some percentage of both Budgets and approved Funding Requests remains unspent at the end of the fiscal year and is often referred to as Reserves. We don’t have any Reserves calculated for FY26 yet.

The chart below is a breakdown of how money is currently allocated to these 3 pools and how much is left from the yearly income to allocate.

This chart above does not automatically update, but these two below show the same data in a slightly different format and do auto update. The value in FY26 Funds Remaining is how much money SGA has left to approve on FRs in FY26 (aka for all of A25, B25, C26, and D26). The values in FY26 Funds Allocated/Required is how much money SGA has approved for Mandatory Transfers, Budgets, and FRs so far in FY26.

How will the remaining money be allocated?

The remaining SLF funds for FY26 will continue to be allocated as Funding Requests. The Financials Canvas has lots of resources about how FRs work including how to submit one, how they are heard, and what SGA is looking for when approving or denying FRs.

If your club is planning a larger FR, feel free to reach out to SGA to request help from a financial senator to review that it follows all of our Bylaws and make the process smoother.
